Anster cheese is made by the St. Andrews Farmhouse Cheese Company in Fife. Award winning,this new cheese is hand-made on their farm, using milk from their own cows. The cheese is fresh and dry, with a hard, crumbly texture, which dissolves in the mouth to leave a full-flavoured finish.
ANSTER RED (U) £2.40 per 100gm
Made to the same recipe as the plain Anster, but has a deep orange colour,
and flavoured with garlic & chive which are both supplied by Scottish producers.
If you like additives in your cheese, this one is delicious and well worth trying.
ANSTER SMOKED (U) £2.65 per 100gm
Plain Anster cheese locally smoked over oak chips. Delicious.
APPLESMOKE MATURE CHEDDAR (V) £2.25 per 100gm
Made by the Inverloch Cheese Company in Campletown which is near the Mull of
Kintyre, this mature cheddar has a rich smokey flavour.
BONNET (G) Seasonal £3.40 per 100gm
From Ayrshire, this hard goat’s milk cheese has the texture of a cheddar and not
too strong a flavour.
CABOC (V) £3.30 per 100gm
From Tain in the Highlands, this popular double cream cheese is rolled in toasted pinhead oatmeal.
CAIRNSMORE GOATS (U V G) Seasonal £3.20 per 100gm
From Galloway this is a hard goat’s milk cheese with a slightly crumbly texture and not too strong a flavour.
Sometimes available ‘Smoked’.
DUNLOP (V) £2.15 per 100gm
Made at the Dunlop Dairy in Ayrshire from the milk of their own Ayrshire cows.
Very old Scottish recipe which resembles a cheddar, is smooth and mild.
DUNSYRE BLUE (U V) £2.80 per 100gm
Made by Humphrey Errington in Lanarkshire. A super creamy cow’s milk cheese,
similar to a stilton in many ways.
